Inspirational quote of the week.

By Mike Aux-TInee.

Be yourself; everyone else is already taken. – Oscar Wilde

To be yourself. Why is everyone afraid of being just themselves? Is there something about yourself that you feel is inadequate? Maybe you do not like your weight, or body type, or the fact that you do not match up against the others when you play sports.

Whatever the reason, we conceal who we really are. It’s hidden away from view so it will not be seen. Because we know, once that little inadequacy is out and in the open for inspection, there is the dangerous possibility that we will be ridiculed, made to feel like we don’t belong – an outsider.

To be thought of as ‘one of the gang’ we find someone who we think is better than us. We mimic their dress and speech. We become as close to a mirror image as possible. Jumping face first into that lifestyle before we look at it – from all angles and think if that’s really who we are and if it’s right for us.

But no. That does not happen. We continue to emulate this person in every way shape and form. A tragedy the Greeks’ could write a play about.

After some time, we find a new role model. Another person has come along and just like the first, we repeat the process. All the while concealing who we really are.

But I have a secret for you… you are just as special and unique. Mother Nature made you different from everyone else.

That is because, she does not want us all to be the same. Each and every one of us has unique abilities that no one else possesses. And they should not be stuffed in some dark corner to never see the light of day.

It is time, that you learn to accept who you are, just the way you are and not try to be someone you aren’t. I came across this quote from one of my favorite actors, “Don’t try to be like Jackie. There is only one Jackie. Study computers instead.” – Jackie Chan.

Who are you really? Maybe you should spend some time and let that person out in the sunshine.

Peace Dudes!
